Career
My own company
After completing my studies in 1983 I travelled the world representing my own high-end audio equipment company. I sold products I designed in the USA, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and throughout Europe – established brand products that still exist today. During my travels I often stayed in a single country for months, allowing me to immerse myself in the language and culture.
Software engineer
In 2001 I sold my company and gradually set up my business as a professional translator of complex technical content. At the time I was not satisfied with the available software for certain tasks. I, therefore, taught myself to become a software engineer. My goal was to develop software that would meet my expectations. The development of said software resulted in a new company.
Until recently I was responsible for this point-of-sale software for 60 shops, including the daily database updates. I, thus, became knowledgeable in the retail business.
Complex translations
My focus is now on complex text translation. I enjoy translating technical texts related to software (use and engineering), automotive, audio and video equipment, complex heavy equipment and social science topics (mainly, but not exclusively, psychology and sociology). Through my international trade experience, I am also able to translate business documents such as contracts and (general) terms and conditions.
